"Heartworks 1st Annual Pike County Kids Photo Shoot
Heartworks Photography, Inc. would like to express it's
gratitude for the tremendous hospitality shown by Pittsfield
residents, the Pike County Chamber of Commerce, Hunt
of a Lifetime and Two Rivers Jeep Club in supporting
our 1st Annual Pike County Kids Photo Shoot which was
held on September 11, 2004 for children with life challenging
illnesses & disabilities.
This
event, held at the Pittsfield Senior Citizen's Center,
was a tremendous success with over a dozen children
benefiting from the free services provided by Heartworks
Photo. "Heartworks photographer and Pike County landowner
Synthia Miller has been working for 2 years to bring
this event to life in our community," said Angela Ruble
of the Pike County Chamber.
"Donations
from fundraisers supported by local businesses and the
Two Rivers Jeep Club, along with a $1,000 grant from
Tom Reddick at the Pittsfield Walmart raised enough
money to cover the expenses for this year's event with
some left over to apply toward doing it again next year."
said Miller. "The support from everyone has been unbelievable!"
In
addition to having two photographers working with the
children at the event, Heartworks Board Member and Pike
County resident Rev. Bob Humphrey was also on hand to
help out. "This is such a great gift for these families,"
Bob said of the portrait sittings. "For some, this is
a one-time opportunity to have a picture made that will
last for generations to come."
Others
who participated in making this day so memorable were
Jason and Angela Ruble. They brought in the most popular
'props' of the day: 2 live horses named Cowboy and Kate.
Complete with all their gear, the horses were a big
hit with both kids and parents alike. Durrell Miller,
representing Two Rivers Jeep Club, also spent the day
working the set, assisting the photographers with props
and lighting gear. Dan Long from Pike County Express
continued his support of Heartworks by spending part
of his busy day covering the event. Lunch was served
to all the families who participated and the kids were
treated to many giveaways donated by several businesses.
"Heartworks
is dedicated to working in the communities where we
spend our family time." says Miller. With plans to begin
construction on a new home at their farm just south
of Pittsfield, it only makes sense that Heartworks would
establish a strong relationship with the Pike County
community. By early 2006 Heartworks plans to relocate
their corporate office from Chicago to Pittsfield and
is already making plans for our 2nd Annual Pike County
Kids Photo Shoot.
Heartworks
is a not-for-profit organization that relies on donations
for it's financial support. They welcome volunteers
to assist with a multitude of functions."
