Children with illnesses, injuries, and disabilities are very special to Heartworks Photography. Being able to capture and preserve a beautiful portrait of them is our primary objective.

The children we work with are afflicted by a variety of illnesses and injuries. These may be caused by accidents, the most common however are birth defects or illnesses that affect children randomly.

Many of these children spend their lives in and out of hospitals, connected to ever-present tubes, wires and machines. Because it is so difficult, parents often do not take their children for portraits. Many studios are ill-equipped to accommodate the special needs of these children. Heartworks is sensitive to this issue and avoids it by bringing our talent and equipment to the children.

The families of these children are often financially burdened by the medical expenses associated with their child’s illness. As a result, they are unable to afford professional photography. Through Heartworks Photography, many of these families receive the only professional portraits of their child they may ever own.

These children are precious and delightful, each with their own unique personality, just like typical kids. An image that portrays the child in a way that shows their inner being is a cherished gift for both the child and their family.
